Principles of Accounting is a vocational course that prepares students to enter the workforce with basic knowledge and skills of maintaining financial records, analyze them and prepare financial statements for a sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. Valuable skills such as time management, responsibility, punctuality, and reliability will be gained through an employer/employee simulated classroom atmosphere. Basic skills such as writing, reading, math, and technology will be integrated. The primary application used will be Automated Accounting to acquaint the students with computerized accounting in the business world. Other activities included are Internet use, communication, and critical thinking. The ten-key number method for keying numbers and calculations will be introduced using Ainsworth Key Pad Trainer. Students will be required to show accountability on a daily basis, as if they were in the workforce.
